So…it’s been a few years since I’ve made it down to the gloriousness that is called SXSW. I’ve had the honor of playing the festival a few times with my bands The Grand Magnolias & Hightide Blues.. and it was a blast. I remember playing some cool shows & some not so cool shows. I think my favorite might of been the time we rocked a Fish taco joint and two old drunk & shirtless hippies got up and stole a djembe solo on stage with us…pretty funny stuff. Other than the ridiculousness there was some amazing memories like getting to see guys like Gary Clark Jr. in a tiny club and Cage the Elephant & Silversun Pickups rock Antone’s right before they blew up…We would always cruise through New Orleans and the Gulf Coast to play to play a hand full of shows to pay for our gas and food before we ended up in Austin to spend the week. We never had a place to crash so we always ended up on whatever couch or floor we could find. This year I’m heading in from LA with my lovely bride and our new band…& hopefully someone will also let us crash on their couch. We’ve got some killer shows lined up with some great bands like The Lonely Bellow, The Milk Carton Kids & my good friend Joe Gil. We also just got added to the bill on a cool acoustic showcase for BMI at the 4 Seasons on Friday and our official showcase is at St. David’s Historic Sanctuary on March 16th 12am (midnight) so… check out the poster above & follow us on twitter or Facebook to keep up with all the SXSW festivities & any last minute shows or appearances that we post! We’ll be keeping you guys in the loop! Hope to see you in Austin keeping it weird.
